Kids Bathroom Collections
My niece is all the time?
I love my niece, she is mostly a big kid. She is 12, is pretty good in school, plays softball. The problem is When she could speak shes been a compulsive liar. Most of the time when children are not to come into problems. My niece lies about everything! She lies about small things, if you ask her what she had for lunch, she will make something up. She also lies about big things, she told her teacher, people in the church and her friends, parents, that her mother hit her with a belt every night (again not true). Its constantly with her. She also steals. She was recently caught stealing cigarettes and candy from our family store and lied about it. She won a lot of my jewelry. She takes weird stuff (bathroom items normally) from family members and stores them in his room. She also won $ 20 from the collection plate at church! Her mother has almost given up. Any suggestions on how to help her?
Before I got my daughter (12 well), I was very opposed to professional help, especially for children. But it was one thing needed for the mine to come live with me. She went 4 times a week, and I participated 2 times a week with her. It really helped. She has Reactive Attachment Disorder, and immediate forms strong bonds with practical strangers. Professional help has helped her to see the difference between right and wrong, and true friends and family, love against a passing acquaintance. These are things I could never have taught her on my own. It sounds to me like your niece is over her mother's ability to help her, and need a professional to help. It's not a bad reflection on anyone's effort to raise your niece, it just means she needs help, and it will be. Compulsive lying is something that should be addressed to control. If left untreated, it will only get worse. It is not a phase, she will not grow out of it. Like kelptomania (uncontrollable urge to steal, she may also have), it will only get worse with time. They are both signs of possible low self esteam and want their lives to be more interesting and get either sympathy or praise where it is either undeserved or unnecessary. Please search help her.
